FAQ

What are the steps to follow when my child is applying to Eden High School?

DSBN GRADE 8 STUDENTS

The first step is to inform your grade 8 teacher and the elementary principal that you are applying to Eden. Your DSBN Elementary School will guide you through the process of applying. Students are required to complete their course selections on career cruising for their home high school and you will also complete Eden’s digital application form (in development, link will be posted soon).

NON-DSBN GRADE 8 STUDENTS

Students who are not currently attending a DSBN school can complete our digital Eden High School Application form (in development, link will be posted soon). If your birth country is not Canada, you must also contact the DSBN Welcome Centre: 905.641.2929 ext. 54152 welcomecentre@dsbn.org.

Why is Eden an alternate school?

Eden is not a boundary school. Students from all over the Niagara Region attend Eden High School. The school culture and its connection to on-going support from the SLC make it a unique place to learn.

When will we hear if our grade 8 child is accepted to Eden High School?

For grade 8 students who have handed in their applications by the deadline, you will hear by the end of January. Applications handed in after the deadline date will be notified if space becomes available.

I heard Eden has a waiting list. What is this about?

The Ministry of Education has set guidelines for class size in Ontario. Once the maximum number for each class had been reached a waitlist can be generated. It is important to submit your Eden application by the deadline date as classes fill up quickly.

What transportation is available when you attend Eden?

There is no DSBN provided transportation available to Eden. Many students living in St. Catharines use St. Catharines Transit. Most parents either drive students in or organize a carpool.

What is the Spiritual Life Centre?

The SLC is a team of individuals that provide programming and support to all Eden students. Opportunities include daily chapel, mission trips, leadership & spiritual development and the very popular Fall Retreats.

Is there a mandatory dress code at Eden?

Eden High School students wear a uniform. Information about the uniform policy is available at this link.
